As you may have read in my post regarding the dearth of merchandise related to the new Star Trek movies, merchandise for the various TV series continue to be strong sellers.

Take these Original Series era Kirk and Spock Beaming Retro Action figures for example. They’re in the Top 6 Star Trek bestsellers on Entertainment Earth who are one of the biggest sellers online of Trek memorabilia. These action figures are exclusive to them as well.

If you take a close at the figures’ features, they don’t resemble the actual characters, except superficially. If you’re into such collectibles, the figures are poseable (with 5 points of articulation) and they’re just like the Kenner action figures of the 1970s and 1980s. Each exclusive figure fades from matter to glittery energy as if it was going through a Starfleet transporter.

Other beaming characters form The Original Series don’t sell nearly as well. Go figure!
