Leonard Nimoy at the Space Shuttle Launch Pad

I don’t know when this photo of Leonard Nimoy at the Space Shuttle launch pad was taken.

It’s definitely not the Enterprise Shuttle as that was never launched into space. It only ever flew on the back of Boeing 747 transportation planes and in glide tests.

For the two original shuttle missions, STS-1 and STS-2, the external tank was painted a brilliant white. The rusty orange color in this photo means that Nimoy was at the Cape for at least the STS-3 mission which was launched on 22 March 1982.
