One of Leonard Nimoy's Spock uniforms from the original "Star Trek" series is to go up for auction on September 23. Prop Store is the company running the auction in which this item is one of 450 lots.
The costume is from TOS second season. The blue velour top, with matching black pants having "Nimoy" written inside, has been identified as being worn on the episodes "The Ultimate Computer" and "The Omega Glory." It is expected to fetch somewhere between $77,000 (£50,000, AU$107,000) and $108,000 (£70,000, AU$150,000).
Other Original Series props on auction include a fiberglass chair from the bridge of the USS Enterprise and Uhura's red velour uniform.
It's not often that props from the original series become available, so if you've got the spare cash, this is an auction to keep an eye on!
The large number of lots up for bidding also cover other sci-fi franchises such as "Battlestar Galactica" (both original and reboot), "Blade Runner," "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "Star Wars", "Back To The Future", "Superman" and "Monty Python and the Holy Grail".
The auction takes place in London on September 23. Online pre-bids are open now, but those with their eyes on a Rocketeer helmet or Witch King's dagger can also participate in the live bidding. A preview exhibition of select lots will be open to the public starting on September 9 at the British Film Institute IMAX theater in London. It will be a rare opportunity to view some seminal props and costumes.
